To help pass the time during spring break I decided to paint something, with oils. I didn't have an easel so I painted it flat on the table. It was originally going to be a monolith in a desert looking out to three others, but there was a problem with the consistency of the paint. You see instead of using the paint I bought for art school I used these pathetic little tubes of oil paint that have been sitting in my basement for years. They were from some sort of art kit for kids I must have gotten a while back. And this paint sucks! So in an effort to finish it all off I emptied almost all of the tubes and shuffled it around with my palette knife until I got something good.

The title derives from the lyrics to the deadmau5 song "Raise Your Weapon". They were stuck in my head and I couldn't think of any other title. I can see how the title works, but I don't want to give anything away, so you figure it out.

This painting has been featured in the Spring 2013 issue of my school's magazine.

14 x 16 inches
Oil on canvas-board

I like the occasional blending in the pigments....It actually looks like you could have watered it down a bit...Have you tried buying turpenoid? Or however the frick you spell that?
I'm glad that you are starting to use more colors and I'm glad you commented back on a comment!
I'm not saying you have to comment on this but I feel like you need to thank people a little more! It won't hurt I promise!
I do it all the time! And look at me! *arm falls off*
I'll see you in school! :P

Try mixing it with beach sands to give it some texture. Other than that, this ain't bad!

I would if I had any. The powder from my latex gloves did sprinkle on it a bit, and looked interesting. But I already finished it, so maybe I'll try something I can get...let's say...sawdust, and mix it in. thanks for the fave!

Sawdust? Oh, I like that idea! Or how about uncooked rice or little pebbles? Even grass clippings. Now you got me thinking!
